How we work, where we work and who we work with

Our Work

Where we focus our work

WAY works in four areas: women empowerment, youth engagement, peacebuilding, and capacity building. Each area responds to a specific need in Lebanese communities, especially in Tripoli and its surroundings. Our work is grounded in direct contact with communities.
Since 2009, we have implemented over 10 projects across these areas, reaching more than 800 people. Our partners include international funders, and we work alongside regional organizations across the MENA region.
Every program we run builds on the one before it. We track results, adjust our approach, and stay present in the communities we serve.

Area of Work 01

Women Empowerment

Women in Lebanon face barriers in political participation, economic opportunity, and public life. WAY works to remove those barriers through training, advocacy, and direct support.

Our programs give women the tools to engage in public decision-making, lead community initiatives, and advocate for their rights. We train women in leadership, communication, and civic engagement, and we connect them with networks of peers across Lebanon and the wider region.

Area of Work 02

Youth Engagement

Lebanon’s youth face high unemployment, political instability, and limited civic participation. WAY gives young people the skills and space to engage constructively with their communities and their future.

Our youth programs focus on non-formal education, civic responsibility, and active citizenship. We run workshops, training sessions, and community projects that bring young women and men together around shared goals.

Across our youth programs, we have trained over 500 young people in civic engagement, conflict resolution, and community leadership. Many go on to lead local initiatives, volunteer in their communities, and participate in public life.

Area of Work 03

Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion

Our peacebuilding programs bring Lebanese and Syrian participants together in structured activities designed to build trust and reduce conflict. We train participants as agents of peace in their own communities, giving them skills in mediation, dialogue, and conflict resolution.

Between 2015 and 2019, we ran four consecutive peacebuilding projects under the Empowering Agents for Peacebuilding and United We Stand programs. These projects reached 650 participants across Tripoli and surrounding areas.

Area of Work 04

Capacity Building

WAY invests in the skills and knowledge of individuals so they become effective contributors to their communities.

Our capacity building work covers a wide range of skills including project management, financial literacy, communication, leadership, and advocacy. We deliver training through workshops, one-on-one coaching, and peer learning sessions.

We work with women, youth, and community leaders. We adapt our training content to the specific context of each group. What works for young men in Tripoli is not the same as what works for women leaders in rural areas.
